The story of Nuestra Señora del Pino (Our Lady of the Pine) is a fascinating one. At the site of the present-day Basilica, the image of the virgin herself is said to have appeared in a pine tree on 8 September 1492 to the first Bishop of Gran Canaria, Juan Frías. Said to possess healing qualities, Nuestra Señora del Pino has become the patron saint of the island. On the steps outside the Basilica it is possible to buy wax models of every part of the human body that can be offered for healing. The figure itself is extraordinary. It is said that one side of the face is smiling and the other side is sad. The figure is bedecked with jewels, although not as many as there were before the robbery in 1975. (source Wikipedia). I’m not a believer, but I like these ancient stories about miracles and superstitions. They have a romantic/dramatic aspect that fascinate me. And also they are a lesson why we should left these stories where they belong: the past. On the other hand, let’s see Teror, the little town where the photos are from.

La historia de Nuestra Señora del Pino es fascinante. En el sitio donde está la Basílica hoy, se dice que la imagen de la misma Virgen se le apareció en un pino, el 8 de septiembre 1492, a el primer Obispo de Gran Canaria, Juan Frías. Como se dice que posee propiedades curativas, Nuestra Señora del Pino se ha convertido en la patrona de la isla. En la escalinata de la Basílica es posible comprar modelos de cera de todas las partes del cuerpo humano que se pueden luego ofrecer para la curación. Su cara en sí es extraordinaria. Se dice que uno de los lados de la cara sonrie y el otro lado es triste. La figura está adornada con joyas, aunque no tantos como los que había antes del robo den 1975. (fuente Wikipedia). Yo no soy creyente, pero me gustan estas antiguas historias sobre milagros y supersticiones. Tienen un aspecto romántico / dramático que me fascina. Y también son una lección de por qué debemos dejar esas historias a donde pertenecen: el pasado. Por otra parte, vamos a ver Teror, el pequeño pueblo de donde están las fotos.

The drinks are as good as they look, so if you’re in Madrid, Pouss coffee bar is a solid option to spend your evenings and nights. More animated in weekends (where there are some artistic shows), the place is perfect to chill out on a weekday. The stuff is also excellent! The shoes are from Zara and yes, the fetish word refers to them
