Since the hot weather conquered Madrid, I’m almost all the time inside the house during the day, so, as many madrileños I prefer to go out by night. All the streets are crowded in the night and the terraces are mainly empty daytime and full for the night. The city is living for the night shift so do I 🙂
Despite the temperature problems, I made a special outfit for Tuesday night: comfortable ‘beige nude’ stripes wedges, blue-jeans shorts, cotton printed t-shirt and a white bag. Oh, I almost forgot my red vintage leather bracelet that I bought from El Rastro, the Madrid’s Sunday flea market in Embajadores area. Enjoy the pictures, and don’t forget to click on them for a larger size.
There were more then 10 days passed since the temperatures are daily over 35 degrees Celsius/95 on Fahrenheit scale (approaching to 40°C / 104°F) and the prognosis for the next 10 days is not better at all. At 1-2 A.M. there are still 27-30 degrees C (81°F-86°F) in the center of Madrid. It’s too much… so, for the last weekend, during daytime, I went to a park and I tried to defeat the hot sun. For some hours everything was fine…
The bad thing is that I want to go out and have fun (take pictures yes!), but it’s almost impossible with that weather. It was a big effort to write this post too… I have to shut down the laptop, it brings more heat into my apartment…
The most vibrant neighborhood of Madrid is Chueca, in terms of parties and sexy nightlife. All the narrow streets are flooding with people that want to have fun, to party, so it’s quite difficult to walk from a club to another one. We went directly to PlazaChueca which is the heart of the gay district and it’s a place with no taboos, to a club named Truco, a lesbian bar de copas but where you can also dance (even if the dance floor is tiny). The atmosphere was nice, with a large feminine majority (the boys that were allowed to enter where the gay friends of the lesbians), cocktails were good and the music a little commercial, but fine after all. A good point is that in Spain the smoking inside bars and clubs is totally prohibited so you can actually breath. After a good time, dance and drinks in Truco we walk around the place, we went to Plaza Vasquez de Mella where is located the famous Oscar Hotel, where the rooms are para compartir (to share), so their slogan is “do you want to sleep with me ?”, as you can see it in the background of my pictures 🙂 Let me explain you the Oscar’s philosophy: if you’re traveling alone and you want to split the cost of a hotel room, you can pick a roommate and that’s it! Very ingenious, isn’t it ? Of course, sometimes the roommate can turn into something more, depending on your mood.
Apparently there is no association between the two names, Britney and Escada. Well, in terms of fragrances, there is something in common: they are both my favorite brands. I know that Britney Spears is not a traditional name when it comes to perfumes, but I was extremely well surprised on its smell so I bought not only the 100ml bottle, but also the 50ml one for the trips I do, to be easier to carry on. I recommend Midnight Fantasy which has a special vibe. Also, Escada is an old love of mine, starting with Marine Grooves and continuing with Taj Sunset and now with the extraordinary Ocean Lounge. The fragrance is so me that I couldn’t resist to buy it. Of course, all the perfumes were at discount prices in Lanzarote *minus 30-40% of the original price. So, how could I resist ?!
I started a new category called “Lingerie” because many people here asked me what type of underwear I use. Well, this will NOT give an answer – usually I don’t wear bras and stockings suspenders – but will show a little of my sensual lingerie that I normally don’t wear but I liked so much in the stores windows that I couldn’t resist the urge of buying it. Please be indulgent with me as it’s my first post so undressed, and it was a challenge to actually shoot this session, in plain day, on a semi-public place as the terrace is. Some informations about my “outfit”: the set lingerie is from H&M, the shoes are from a local brand – Mustang – and the bracelet-watch is from Folli Follie. Enjoy the show, but first, a little poll 🙂
No, don’t worry, I’m not closing my blog, Ponto Final is only a wonderful restaurant in Lisbon (in fact, it is situated on the other side of the Tajo river, and that side is not Lisbon anymore), right at the legs of the famous Jesus statue, on the shore of the river. You have to use the ferry to go there, but it does worth the effort. The name of the restaurant, Ponto Final, meaning “the final point”, was accorded with the fact that it is the last building on the shore, after a long cordon of abandoned warehouses. The area has a very pitoresque atmosphere, emptied of tourists, only with some fishermen trying their luck on the river’s waters. Regarding the restaurant, you can have a romantic dinner right on the river (there are some old harbor’s lines of concrete forward the river, so you’re basically surrounded by water from 3 sides. The food is fine (here I also discovered Licor Beirão, a delicious Portuguese beverage made out of herbs), the serving is great and if you’re cold they will bring some blankets to cover your legs or entire body. Very useful!
A trend in SS2011, the polka dots enter in my wardrobe and I have to admit it’s a welcomed admission. I wasn’t a big fan of dots until… I found them in my outfit (no premeditation) and I said “wow, this looks nice!”. So, for yesterday (Sunday) walk I thought blue/denim dots are just the perfect ally for my blonde look 🙂 My outfit was made of:
Bershka peep-toe ss2011 wedges
Stradivarius polka dots denim shorts
Bershka small bag with metallic accessories
I didn’t finish my posts from Lisbon, but I just feel the urge to mix Lisbon’s photos/stories with some of my actual outfit street photos. Enjoy!
